This Year's Model Updates:

The base trim level has been dropped. The 2.7-liter V6 is now standard (the LX still gets the 3.5-liter V6), as is an automatic transmission. Also newly standard this year are four-wheel antilock brakes and traction control. Exterior changes include a new grille surround, side cladding, taillamps, tailgate handle, rear bumper design and alloy wheels. Inside, there is new seat fabric, an upgraded two-tone color scheme and a revised instrument cluster. A power driver seat is now standard on the LX, and a compass is included with the optional sunroof.

Pros:
  • Reasonable price, strong warranty, roomy interior, long list of standard features, solid construction, good crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the pump for a small car-based SUV, soft suspension limits handling ability.

  • Cool SUV - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

I have enjoyed driving the Santa Fe for nearly a year. I have taken it on trips and drive in heavy traffic. I holds up well and comfortable to ride in. It has separate cup holders so it is easy to reach your drink not the passangers. The down side so far is the back seats when folding them down you have to take off the head rest and the seats still dont lay down flat.

This is probably the best auto maker out there. After working for GM/Delphi and knowing what they make and owning GMs my entire life I wanted something made better, more reliable and an alround better deal. I found it with Hyundai. I bought a SAnte Fe and a Tiburon GT this year...that is how great they are!

I used to drive a company car, after 10 yrs of "worry free" driving, I looked at every possibility out there. Test drove everything from Scion as to Escapes, RAV4s. I knew I needed something to drive but had no idea what. I started paying attention to the cars in the road, and kept seeing Hyundais, Elantras; Santa Fes, so I decided to check them out. With a limited budget I had to get the most I could with the money I had. I finally decided on a 1yr old Santa Fe with 10K miles. The price was definitely fair, and ever since I have enjoyed this car more than any of the other free cars Ive ever driven. Whenever something has to be fixed, the warranty picks it up, and I am left very happy.

This is my first vehicle that I have bought. The sales people at the dealership helped out alot. I love how the AC gets cold right away and how it is nice and quiet in the vehicle. I only wish I bought it sooner. Overall the thing that caught my attention the most was the warrenty on it.

Love the truck, hate the gas miledge! Im driving 450 miles/week to work on mountainous roads and through mid-size cities. Even using the cruise and a K$N filter, getting 18-20MPG.

This is the second Hyundai I have purchased. The quality and reliability of this vehicle makes you wonder what the other car companies are doing with all the extra money they charge you fora similiarly equipped vehicle. The week after I bought this car my parents were so impressed they had me buy them a Sonata over the internet, "sight unseen." They cant believe the car they got for the money.

We were sceptical about buying a Hyundai at first, husband sold in late 80s and it was wasnt pretty at that time, HOWEVER after doing research and test driving, we are surprisingly happy with the design and the performance of our 2005 Santa Fe. For the money and the options there is NO comparison. Hyundai beats the competition hands down. The warranty and dealer incentives are the icing on the cake. Hopefully it will be a dependable vehicle and we will definately update our review. Some of the reviews are comical at best (illuminated cruise control?) that would not be noticed if everything wasnt already illuminated. Ignore the Reliability rating above-doesnt count =)

  • So far So good! - 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe

I loved the body styling compared to the box like appearance of other SUVs in its class. The interior is pretty comfy. The leather seats are not very soft but the give good support. I am disappointed that the passenger seat does not heat up as represented. The driver seat nicely heats and warms your lower back. Steering is tight. The gas pedal is too touchy. Barely pressing the pedal and it jumps into action full speed ahead! It is difficult to get used to and a bit annoying. Today I loaded a tall size hot water tank into it. Dropped the back seat and pushed the front seat forward and in it went with room to spare. Smiles all around! My friends find the back seat very comfortable.
